The ARK Project is a Christian community charity funded by Elim Churches in Selly Oak, south Birmingham. ARK stands for ‘acts of random kindness’ and that is exactly what we do. We have been running fully for 3 years and have seen real growth in terms of the people we support and the services that we offer. We aim to bring hope, share life and create support.
We believe that a good life should be had for all and have a 3 stage approach to bring kindness and love into our communities. We EQUIP people through our donation services that include food parcels, clothing, bedding, kitchen starter kits, new school uniforms and furniture. We host a weekly day centre to ENGAGE with vulnerable adults which includes free drinks and lunch and activities. Finally, we ENABLE individuals by either signposting to other services or supporting community members in services we offer, such as application and letter writing, education classes, computer clubs and employment support. We meet approximately 55 community members each week in our services, give out approximately 30 food parcels each week and have impacted over 4,000 lives within Birmingham.
We ensure that all support is specific to the needs of the people we are helping so there are many ways individuals can get help. They can get referred by a professional or complete a self-referral by visiting our day centre or office. It is advised that individuals receiving donations bring evidence of ‘being in need’ along to meeting the team, although in some circumstances we are able to provide support without evidence. For support or for any questions, get in touch.
