Vasco da Gama

The Church Bear (on tour!)

 

We are sad to say, that on a recent trip to China, Vasco disappeared in mysterious circumstances!

 

Our church bear was Vasco da Gama (or Vasco for short). He was named after a great Portuguese voyager and discoverer who lived between 1469 and 1524. He was available to accompany people on their travels – holidays, mission trips, great adventures.

 

Vasco was traditionally made (by Ann Stevenson) using the finest English mohair. He was fully jointed and his filling was fire-safe, part fibre and plastic beads to make him more huggable and easy to pose! His eyes were glass and his nose was hand-embroidered. He was lightweight and easy to pack and most of all well-behaved!
